Intermediate Lenght Program (Three days/two nights) • First day Arrival in Iquitos, reception at the airport by Refugio personnel and transfer to the “Iron House” (made by Auguste Eiffel and sent to Iquitos at the times of the “rubber boom”) situated on the Main Square, where you will be given a briefing on the sights you will be seeing in the city while enjoying a cocktail made with local fruit. The city tour will begin at the Belén medicinal plants market. You will be briefed on the properties of each plant. After the visit, you will be taken to the port to board Refugio Altiplano’s speedboat for the trip to the lodge, sailing along the Amazon River and minutes down Tamshiyacu River, where Refugio Altiplano is situated. Tamshiyacu River is an affluent of the Amazon River. After settling down and a refreshing shower, ou will be taken to the main building for lunch. Meals at Refugio are made with local ingredients and consist of typical dishes of the area. At 7 p.m., you will be taken to the main building for the evening meal if you are not participating an ayahuasca ceremony. If you mean to attend a ceremony, it is recommended not to eat and you will therefore have a late lunch. • Optional activities for the evening You may attend and participate in a shamanic ceremony in our Ceremony House. The “ayahuasca” ceremony is a healing ceremony which is carried out with our shamans who will supervise and assist you all along the its duration. Tehse ceremonies are meant to have a healing effect, to help us begin to walk our spiritual path for a greater knowledge of our self and for healing purposes. In native tribes “ayahuasca” (banisteropsis capii) is a vine used for the rites of passage. The shamans are the holders of its knowledge. Night excursión along Tamshiyacu River with a guide, to admire the river by night and be bewitched by the noisy silence we enjoy in the jungla.• Second day You Hill wake up in our cottages with a wonderful plate of local fruit ready for you and a jugo of infusión. At your leisure, you will get dressed and will be expected at the main building for breakfast. During breakfast lively conversation will be enjoyed, as well as further explanation on ceremonies, life in the jungle and ayahuasca ceremonies. You will then be taken for a canoe excursión to admire a lake full of “vitrocia regia” which is a giant lotus, typical of the Amazon Basin and admire the caymans that live around the lake. . ………….. Or At 1 p.m., you wil be served lunch which will again be a meal prepared with a variety of local ingredientes which wil include vegetables, fish and a variety of local fruits. You may also chose to rest and relax on the hammocks, preparing for a quiet evening or participating in a ceremony. Your options for the evening will be: Participating in the shamanic ceremony • Third day After breakfast, you will ride a canoe and visit “La Hacienda”, local sugar cane producers and producers of a liqueur made in the region.
