VACCINES AND HEALTH CONCERNS
Malaria does occur in the region, although no cases are known from
the Refugio. Most guests choose not to take anti-malarial medicines;
however, the choice is yours. We recommend that you consult with
your medical or natural health physician. Also, refer to the web
site for the Center for Disease control for the latest information

MONEY
The Peruvian currency is the Nuevo Sol. You can exchange money at
the Lima Airport, where the exchange rate is the same as other exchange
bureaus in the area. If you need to change more currency in Iquitos,
the staff will help you.
LANGUAGE
The language you will hear most in Lima and Iquitos is Spanish.
Most attendants at the airports speak English or can find someone
who does. Once with the Refugio staff in Iquitos, there will be
English speaking assistance. This is a great opportunity to hone
your Spanish speaking skills!
